BRITISH HIGH COMMISSION’S DELEGATION CALLED ON SENIOR MINISTER

LAHORE, SEPT. 26:  Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan has said that there is a lot of room to work for rule of law and to provide speedy and low cost justice in the society for which present Government has started work in the right direction from day one. He added that practical steps have been proposed in the 100 Days’ Plan in each sector and in the coming days there would be significant changes especially in the public dealing departments. He expressed these views while talking 2-Member delegation of British High Commission in which Head of Rule of Law Ms. Susan Loughhead and Rule of Law Advisor Mr. Simon Charters were present and Provincial Head Iftikhar Ahmed Rao and Mustafa Umer were assisting them. Abdul Aleem Khan said that there is no doubt in it that masses have great aspirations from the present Government and every citizen take Imran Khan as last ray of hope and we have to intact them with our working. Senior Minister expressed thanks of UK delegation on offering assistance in different sectors and said that in KPK around 2 years before Police Reforms had become materialized and there is a significant change. Abdul Aleem Khan said that especially in Punjab there is mindset about the Police and “thana” culture and for this, reforms would be needed at wide scale while on the directions of Prime Minister Imran Khan practical work has already been started. Senior Minister assured the delegation full cooperation from Punjab Government and said that all the stakeholder departments would sit together to formulate uniform policy in this regard.
In their conversation Ms. Susan Loughhead and Mr. Simon Charters told that these recommendations were given to KPK Government one and half years ago and the same were handed over to Punjab Government but the pace of work got slow due to unknown reasons in Punjab. They welcomed the new governments in Pakistan and Punjab and appreciated their priorities as well. Both members of the delegation lauded the goals and aims of Imran Khan to bring countrywide change. They also expressed thanks of Senior Minister Punjab for offering maximum cooperation and said that it would not only help to control terrorism but also provide relief to the common man in day to day life.
