LAHORE, SEPT. 04: Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan has said that to make the representatives of local bodies empowered is the manifesto of PTI and we cannot give up on this issue. He added that the past government of N used local bodies’ institutions for their own purposes and held these elections only on the directions of Supreme Court. While talking to the media outside Punjab Assembly, Abdul Aleem Khan said that we do not want the ceremonial role of elected representatives in the local bodies and would accord them all the developmental work at union council level. He said that from union council to tehsil and district every chairman would be having full authority and apart from giving them financial and administrative authority there would also be proper check and balance to monitor their working. Commenting on the media talk of Hamza Shahbaz, Abdul Aleem Khan said that one should be answerable that either this local bodies system should strengthen the masses or only Shahbaz Sharif. He said that the chairmen belonging to N league are also not satisfied and have a number of complaints from this useless system. Abdul Aleem Khan announced that he himself would be meeting the elected ones of nawaz league and will discuss new local bodies system. On a question, Abdul Aleem Khan said that apart from PTI, PPP and N League have competed and brought their own candidate in the Presidential Elections and as it was a democratic process so every party has the right to make its own strategy. He said that there is no question of friendly opposition as it was the habit of N League. Replying another question Abdul Aleem Khan said that in a while bureaucracy would also be acquainted with the changing circumstances and the administration would fit in the changing Pakistan.
