TWO TIER SYSTEM TO BE INTRODUCED AT LOCAL & DIST. LEVEL IN PUNJAB
LAHORE, SEPT. 17: Village council and neighborhood will be made on the lesser population in the proposed local government bill of Punjab. Thirty percent annual development funds will be spent on the development projects, funds, worth one crore rupees will be used on Councilor level. Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan told in a meeting chaired by him that new proposals are in the process according to the directions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the proposals will be finalized in the coming week. Abdul Aleem khan directed that the power of local and district governments should be clear and separated from each other. Development and local level will be resolved by village council, where as district government will be responsible for mega projects. The local council will be comprised upon of 11 members, these institutes will also work on generating the funds at local level. Senior Minister said keeping in view the past experiences, the virtue of power of municipal government should not only be very clear but strictly monitored too. Law Minister Raja Basharat, Secretary Local bodies Arif Anwar Baloch and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
In the meeting, Senior Minister Abdul Aleem khan expressed his displeasure in this important meeting on the cleanliness issues of the city. He directed the Special Secretary to take action on it on urgent basis. Abdul Aleem khan directed to interrogate solid waste and management companies and said that he can't see the city to be untidy and asked to get the report tomorrow again and take action against responsible once. He said that providing citizens with the best environment is the main priority of any government especially Lahore and he can't compromise over the cleanliness issues and he himself will monitor it.
