BRAINSTORMING SESSION FOR PROVINCIAL MINISTERS ON NEW LB SYSTEM IN PUNJAB

LAHORE, OCTOBER 09: Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan has given target of one week to undertake Clean & Green Punjab in all the divisional headquarters and strict action would be taken on any negligence in this regard. He observed this while presiding over a high level meeting here today in which Secretary Local Government and high ranking officers were present. Abdul Aleem Khan said that the government machinery has been given much time of one month and now action is required and instruction must be passed in all the 36 districts to take effective measures in ensuring proper and sustainable work of cleanliness. Abdul Aleem Khan said that he would be visiting divisional headquarter and inspect himself the state of affairs and immediate action would be taken on the spot. He directed to depute a focal person at each divisional headquarter who would not only monitor the work but also send daily report. Abdul Aleem Khan said that such mechanism should be adopted which can provide the citizens clean and pollution free atmosphere on permanent basis and for this purpose all the relevant departments should be taken on board in this campaign. Senior Minister directed the officers of Local Bodies Department to opt professional and responsible behavior otherwise they will have to face the disciplinary action. He added that this is the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan and there must b 100 per cent results as well.
Meanwhile, brainstorming session for the Provincial Ministers on new local bodies system for Punjab was held under the chairmanship of Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan in which detail discussion was held on the new dimensions of the proposed system. Provincial Ministers Mian Aslam Iqbal, Malik Mohammad Anwar, Mohsin Leghari, Husnain Bahadur Dreshak, Mian Khalid Mahmood, Sardar Asif Nakai and Saeed ul Hassan Shah took part in this session and presented different proposals keeping in view ground realities and as per the requirements of their respective districts. Abdul Aleem Khan said that the past government put the local bodies institutions inactive deliberately but present government has decided not bring powerful system which would be solving the problems of the masses at local level. He said that on the directions of the Prime Minister Imran Khan consultation process has been started at different levels so that new system could be brought in most perfect shape. Abdul Aleem Khan observed that in the new system from Attock to Rajanpur there would be uniform policies and financial and administrative powers would be delegated to each representative of the Local Bodies. Senior Minister said that deliberations are under process and final approval would be given by the Prime Minister Imran Khan regarding new local bodies system for Punjab.
