REQUIRED FUNDS WILL BE PROVIDED AND THE PERFORMANCE OF THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES WILL ALSO BE MADE SURE.
LAHORE, OCTOBER 29: Abdul Aleem Khan on his visit to Gujranwala, while addressing the conference of all the deputy commissioners of the said division through video link, said that the government authorities should not solely rely on government funding and they should also make plans to generate their own funds through various possible models. He said that no compromise will be made on making all the cities 100 percent clean and making sure that waste is collected and then disposed of properly on a daily basis. It was further noted that the situation in Gujranwala has improved in light of the instructions which were previously issued by the senior minister but a room for more improvement still exists. While chairing a high level meeting at the commissioner office he said that both long and short initiatives had been started for all the cities and the start of building new landfill sites for waste disposal will be taken from Gujranwala. He insisted that all the city authorities must have the capabilities to make necessary arrangements according to the needs of the city. A complete briefing on the cleanliness drive, clean and green campaign and other administrative matters was taken from deputy commissioners of all the districts of Gujranwala division through video link. He stressed on the need for all the city authorities to move towards self sustenance and also mentioned the importance of public awareness for the success of the various initiatives taken by government. Commissioner Gujranwala division, Asadullah Faiz, while briefing on the anti encroachment drive stated that 9861 Kanals of land was recovered from the land grabbers. Senior minister was also briefed by Secretary Local Government Capt. (R) Saif Anjum on the issues of local government.
While addressing the media after the high level meeting the senior minister attacked the opposition and said that the so called all parties conference is merely a faced and its only purpose is to save those who have looted this country. He stressed that those who plundered country’s wealth will not be spared by Imran Khan and the likes of Zardari, Nawaz Sharif and Maulana cannot save themselves from the consequences of what they have done to this country. He further reiterated that the government did have to take some unpopular decisions due to the need of the circumstances but the government is headed towards right direction. He assured that country will be taken out of this tough financial situation which was also inherited by the provincial government. He said that the provincial government cheques of worth 80 billion were bounced which reflect the crisis which this government has inherited. He informed the media that the new law for local bodies is currently with the law ministry and it will be sent to CM Punjab and also to the PM after the draft has been finalized. In the end he praised the local authorities for their hard work on the current campaigns and also thanked the people for their cooperation in this regard.
