CAMPAIGN SHOULD BE CONTINUED TILL 100 PER CENT RESULTS, NO ACTION AGAINST KATCHI ABADIS

Lahore, Nov. 05: Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan has given directions that all the land evacuated in encroachment drive should be uploaded on Google so that its status should be maintained. He added that it should be ensured that no encroachment should take place again and this operation continues till the 100 per cent results and each and every piece of land of the Government should be back. He expressed these views while presiding over a high level meeting here at 90 The Mall in which detailed review of the encroachment drive was undertaken. Senior Minister directed that the land of 3000 acres aside by the River Ravi should be handed over to the Forest Department so that tree plantation and environment friendly steps should be taken there. Abdul Aleem Khan asked to add the second leg of the operation and said that again no katchi abadi should be disturbed however no plaza, marriage hall or commercial activity should be there. He further directed to remove all encroachments in front of Data Darbar and said that all the residents should be register first so that they may be accommodated also. Senior Minister asked the PHA to devise plan for establishing beautiful park at site of Data Darbar so that people coming from other cities can enjoy good atmosphere. He added that passenger lounge is already being constructed so that visitor may stay there. 
In this high level meeting, Deputy Commissioner and DG LDA gave detailed briefing about the operation completed so far for removal of encroachments in the city. They told that thousand kanal lands have been taken back from the illegal occupants while petrol pumps, marriage halls and un-allowed big commercial activities have been disconnected. Similarly, it is being ensured that no such practice should be repeated and all the taken back land should remain in the possession of the Government. DG PHA, MD Solid Waste Management and other departments’ heads also informed about their role in this drive. Commissioner Lahore and DIG Operation were also in the meeting in which further strategy was evolved to complete the remaining portion of encroachment removal drive. Abdul Aleem Khan directed that such practices should continue on permanent basis as there is no room for anyone to undertake business activity on public land. In the meeting policy was also discussed for gypsies and it was decided that they would be first registered and then removed from there.
