LAHORE, DECEMBER 11:  Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan has directed to submit last 10 years’ details from Local Government in Punjab and asked to furnish the facts and figures of the funds utilized for political purposes by violating rules and regulations. Senior Minister passed on directions to the Secretary Local Government to put up accounts details of the local body’s institutions from all over the province stating that when and where irregularities were made by the then rulers. He said that a number of complaints have been lodged regarding ignoring official procedures and getting directions from Raiwind or Model Town to allocate funds for some project which was not even under the domain of the Local Bodies Department. He said that heavy embezzlement have also been committed during the last 10 years on which strict action would be taken after the departmental inquiry. Abdul Aleem Khan also called for the details of posting and transfers in this department on the political behest and said that complete data be provided about the officers deputed for personal motives which has badly damaged the department. He said that apparently local body’s institutions were not working actively and each and every penny was being utilized by the then Chief Minister himself. Senior Minister these practices have been stopped from the start of present government but the past facts should be brought on the surface to put the things on record and fix the responsibility.

Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan further said that present government has firm commitment to introduce such local bodies system which will be free from all sort of political pressures and work is on the final stage in this regard. He said that unfortunately in the last decade there was big mess in every sector in Punjab and Local Bodies System is one of the examples of it but such irregularities will not be tolerated in future. He assured that every sector will have to go through from strict monitoring and this process is being started from Local Bodies Institutions for which directions have already been issued. Abdul Aleem Khan said that in developed countries local government system plays role of backbone and best possible civic facilities are provided through this set up but in Punjab there was toothless and useless structure was developed for certain purposes. Senior Minister assured that through probe will be conducted so that clear picture could be brought before the masses that how much national resources were plundered in Local Bodies Department during the last 10 years in the biggest province of Pakistan.
