CATTLE COMPANY TO BE REVAMPED, NEW TASKS GIVEN BY SENIOR MINISTER

MODEL TO BE OUTSOURCED TO PRIVATE INVESTORS, MORE FACILITIES TO BE GIVEN

LAHORE, DECEMBER 28:  Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan has given new tasks to Lahore Cattle Company which include introducing more facilities and shifting from Shahpur Kanjraan to some other place of two to three hundred acre land. He added that keeping in view next 20 years’ requirements planning should be made. Senior Minister observed that unfortunately these companies have very bad repute but no more embezzlement would be allowed and nor nepotism will be tolerated. Abdul Aleem Khan said that there are big reservations among masses on these companies which were created only to benefit near and dear ones by the last government but now there would be reforms at wide scale otherwise these companies will be of no use. Senior Minister directed that maximum facilities should be provided by the Cattle Company to the animals and their owners in these markets and apart from best atmosphere there should also be proper number of veterinary doctors available to provide on the spot medical facilities. He said that if proper facilities are provided then there may be some entry and exit fee for each big and small animal also which can help make the cattle company self-sufficient. Abdul Aleem Khan categorically said that no company can be entertained as there is a financial burden on the Punjab Government. He directed the Special Secretary Local Government to prepare new recommendations for Lahore Cattle Company and send summary for approval of the Chief Minister Punjab, in this regard. Senior Minister announced that on the pattern of Lahore, Cattle Companies will be established in other big cities of the province so that people can avail these facilities there also and best meat and milk could be provided to them as well. Abdul Aleem Khan also suggested that the government land Cattle Company should be used for 5 days for fruit & vegetable market and display center for tractor and other agro related items.
Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan was given detailed briefing by the Managing Director of Lahore Cattle Company Dr. Ehtasham who told that presently this company works on 56 acre land where 600 trucks and 300 Shahzor bring weekly hundreds of small and big animals and this company is working on no profit and no loss basis. He briefed on the activities of Lahore, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahab’s Cattle Markets. He informed that presently government has to bear Rs.76 cost on each animal while 140 workers are working. MD of the Company suggested per animal charges to be fixed for the funds generation purpose.
