BRITAIN POLITICAL COUNSELOR WILLIAM MEDILTON CALLED ON ABDUL ALEEM KHAN
LAHORE, JAN. 23: Punjab Government has decided not to celebrate basant this year and directions have given by the Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan to inform the High Court in this regard. In a high level meeting chaired by Senior Minister Punjab, it was decided that the Court would be apprised in detail about the facts and apprehensions based upon this decision has been taken. Abdul Aleem Khan directed that preparations for the next year should be started right now in which registration of stuff sellers may be undertaken and violators should be bring into book as well. Senior Minister indicated that if required new legislation can also be made for strict laws for the holding of basant. He pointed out that four to six months are required for proper preparations of basant in the province and if the relevant institutions work properly such activities can be held for promotion of soft image of Pakistan and which will also boost business activities in the region.
Britain Political Counselor Mr. William Medilton also called on Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan. In this meeting held at 90 Shara-e-Quaid-e-Azam, Senior Minister apprised the UK Political Counselor about the development in different sectors of Punjab. He said that present government has great commitment of promotion of health, education and infrastructure and practical steps are being taken on the directions of the Prime Minister Imran Khan in this regard. Abdul Aleem Khan said that Punjab Government intends to enhance both sides cooperation with UK Government. William Medilton exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and told Senior Minister that United Kingdom watching the process of change in Pakistan with keen interest. He said that bilateral cooperation by UK Government would continue in Punjab and further areas would be pointed out for further increase of projects. He offered more cooperation in different sectors and discussed a number of projects in this regard.
Meanwhile, in Punjab Assembly session, opposition members of nawaz league appreciated the role performed by Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan. They especially praised the way Abdul Aleem Khan answered the questions of opposition with patience and said that it was astonishing that rather than defending his department unnecessarily Senior Minister chose to accept the version of Members of Punjab Assembly and accepted the ground realities. Opposition MPAs Malik Nadim Kamran, Rana Munawar Husain, Arshad Jutt and Ch. Iftikhar Husain spoke in favor of Abdul Aleem Khan on the floor of Punjab Assembly and accepted the positive attitude and vision of Senior Minister Punjab in the Assembly business for supporting their verdict. Abdul Aleem Khan in his response said that provision of clean drinking water throughout Punjab is the priority of present government and he would always prefer to support the MPAs irrespective of the party affiliation. He assured that schemes of MPAs would be included preferably in the current fiscal year for providing better civic facilities to the people of Punjab and he would offer his cooperation all the time.
