LAHORE, JANUARY 28:  Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan has approved to out-source Lahore Parking Company and in the first phase 136 points will be included which areas of Gulberg, Mall Road and Allama Iqbal Town will fall. In a high level meeting here today, Abdul Aleem Khan said that unfortunately all the companies had become the dens of corruption .He said that it is the high time that practical steps should be taken to redress the issues and able and honest staff will be encouraged to come forward. Senior Minister said that if pilferage is stopped heavy funds can be generated which will be utilized in construction of parking plazas in the city to meet the future requirements. Abdul Aleem Khan directed to start the bidding process immediately in which companies of international repute be given chance to work. He said that e-ticketing should be ensured with the issuance of daily, weekly and month parking cards. Abdul Aleem Khan asked to regularize all the private companies under the umbrella of Lahore Parking Company and ensure uniform policy in the city. He also directed the Lahore Parking Company to devise strategy to minimize expenses and increase in the income. He said that there should be no exemption for parking fees except recreational parks for the general public. Senior Minister also expressed reservations over the capabilities of the officers of Lahore Parking Company and directed to improve the human resource. He said that future expansion planning should be made by keeping in view the public private partnership as a lot of work could be done through this model. Abdul Aleem Khan said that malpractices and irregularities in the past have brought these companies at the verge of destruction but now either they will perform or remain ready for closure of these companies.
In the meeting, Senior Minister Punjab was briefed by Secretary Local Government and MD Lahore Parking Company and told that presently 800 field staff is working in LPC while by collaboration of traffic police, Geo fencing and urban unit future planning is being undertaken. They told that Lahore City has been divided into A, B & C zones and strict monitoring is also being ensured in different areas.
