GOVT. TAKING DIFFICULT & UNPOPULAR DECISIONS IN LARGER PUBLIC INTEREST

LAHORE, JANUARY 02: Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan has said that zero tolerance policy will continue against encroachments and even a single inch grabbing of government land would not be tolerated. He added that in the lights of directions of the Courts original shapes of the cities will be restored and no pressure will be entertained in this regard. Senior Minister expressed these views while presiding over the meeting of high level committee formed by the Chief Minister Punjab on encroachment issue where Secretaries of Local Govt. Industries, Revenue and Deputy Commissioner were also present among other relevant officers.
Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan made it clear that till the logical end, encroachment drive will continue in all cities of Punjab. He said that removal of encroachments is actually in the larger interest of traders and lawful citizens. Abdul Aleem Khan said that present government taking difficult and unpopular decisions in the larger interest of the masses and rules and regulations will be observed in the lights of vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan. He said that honest and able officers are required to implement the agenda of the government and full support will be provided to them also. Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan also asked to ensure that no ‘katchi abadis’ are disturbed and there should be no complaint by the poor ones. He said that billions of rupees government land has already been recovered in the current campaign launched against encroachments in Punjab and more results will be achieved. Senior Minister said that in future implementation on such procedure will be ensured in which encroachments could not flourish.
In the meeting, Senior Minister was briefed by Deputy Commissioner on the encroachment drive in Lahore City and presentation was given on the achievements got in Shah Alam Market for evacuating government land where shops and plazas have been demolished and buildings have been restored as per maps of Lahore Improvement Interest and drawings of 1936. Senior Minister directed that apart from Shah Alam Market steps should be taken in Fish Market and other areas of inside old city with the collaboration of Walled City Authority by district management. Abdul Aleem Khan also appreciated the performance of district administration’s day and night efforts for removal of encroachments and debris as well.
