PENDING PROJECTS TO BE COMPLETED, CIVIC AGENCIES ASKED BETTER PLANNING

LAHORE, JANUARY 25: Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan has called upon all the government departments to ensure integration for improving their performance. He added that instead of opting traditional working officers should work efficiently for completion of public welfare projects. While presiding over a high level meeting of different departments here at 90 The Mall, Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan said that incomplete projects of billions of rupees should be prioritized and shortlisted for early completion as heavy public exchequer has already been spent on them. He directed that responsibilities of the departments should be fixed clearly and overlapping on different issues be cleared. Senior Minister approved the formation of different working groups who would be suggesting recommendations for pending issues. Abdul Aleem Khan said that comprehensive strategy must be formed to quickly move forward and make all the projects functional for the welfare of the masses. He also approved the hiring of international consultants for 22 cities of Punjab which would work for the proper planning there. Senior Minister assigned different important tasks to LDA, WASA, TEPA and other civic agencies and directed them to keep clear agenda before them for implementation. He directed that all the sick units should be identified and they should be closed without further delay. In the meeting, progress and performance of different companies in Punjab and their fate came under discussion. Senior Minister asked to review the lacunas remained in developmental projects like airport road and advised to avoid such mistakes in future. Abdul Aleem Khan also directed to solve the complaints about transport and traffic issues in all the cities including Lahore and evolve concrete policies in this regard. Senior Minister asked the Local Government Department to utilize all the pending funds in Punjab and complete the remaining projects. He said that we should also determine the future problems of metro bus and orange line train and suggest their solutions. In the meeting it was decided that all the departments would start working on the given tasks and submit their recommendations within February and after that practical work would be started on the developmental activities, as well.
Senior Minister was given briefing by Secretary Local Government, Commissioner & Deputy Commissioner Lahore, DIG Police and other senior officers while affairs of solid waste management also came under discussion. Working and performance of different allied departments was also considered and it was decided that working groups would submit their proposals at the earliest and in the light of those further strategy will be evolved.
