SENIOR MINISTER PRESIDED FOLLOW UP MEETING OF CM’S GUJRANWALA VISIT
LAHORE, JAN. 14: Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan has said that unfortunately there is acute shortage of able and hardworking officers but there would be no more delay in resolving people’s problems. He added that Punjab Government would provide resources and results would also be taken. He expressed these views while presiding over a high level follow up meeting regarding Chief Minister’s visit of Gujranwala in which reservations were expressed and a number of actions were also taken. Abdul Aleem Khan gave two weeks’ time to the administration of Gujranwala to improve the situation. Senior Minister approved the change in the administration of Solid Waste Management and now Commissioner Gujranwala will be Chairman and Deputy Commissioner to act as Managing Director. He also directed to include Gujranwala in waste to energy project and take immediate steps in this regard. Abdul Aleem Khan further directed that steps should immediately be taken for new hospital in Gujranwala and no stone should be left unturned in this regard. He directed that all the government land evacuated in Gujranwala should be utilized for the welfare projects and concrete strategy be evolved for this purpose. Senior Minister said that he would be visiting Gujranwala after two weeks to review the improvement. He said that unfortunately the last government did nothing in Gujranwala except constructing some roads and that was the reason that the problems were adding since long and now the situation was so miserable that citizens facing many difficulties. Abdul Aleem Khan directed to fill all the vacant posts and depute honest and dutiful officers there. Senior Minister asked to submit him daily progress report and ensure that no negligence happen in Gujranwala. He added that Chief Minister has great concern over the problems confronting to the people of Gujranwala and stern action has been proposed against the responsible ones. Abdul Aleem Khan Listened the issued presented by the divisional administration of Gujranwala and issued on the spot orders for providing remedy in this regard.
In the meeting, Secretary Local Government Punjab, Capt. (r) Saif Anjum, Commissioner Gujranwala Asad Ullah Faiz and Deputy Commissioner Syeda Kanwal Batool and other officers briefed Senior Minister over the issues of Gujranwala and told that deteriorating situation of cleanliness was due to the lack of proper planning in the past. They assured the Senior Minister that immediate steps will be taken and visible change will be observed in the coming days.
