PUNJAB 22 DAYS AHEAD IN WHEAT HARVEST: ABDUL ALEEM KHAN
Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan has said that this year Punjab is 22 days ahead in wheat harvesting and its procurement is successfully underway. He added that wheat harvesting in the province starts from South Punjab while it ends in Gujranwala. Abdul Aleem Khan told that last year harvesting was started on May 2 while this time it was commenced from April 10. He said that despite the bad weather, the crop is very good and In Sha Allah there is no danger of any kind of crisis. Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan further said that wheat is not allowed to go out of the province but flour, bran and other products are being transported to Peshawar and Sindh with permits. There is no restriction on inter-district delivery so mill owners should not be unnecessarily harassed. Similarly, inter-provincial wheat can also be taken with the permit, Abdul Aleem Khan added.
Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan expressed these views while talking at Chamber of Commerce Rahim Yar Khan in a joint meeting where Punjab Assembly Members Chaudhry Asif Majeed, Mian Muhammad Shafiq and Mian Muhammad Shafi who were also present. Abdul Aleem Khan appealed to the business community to come forward in the Food sector and Government will support them in every possible way. The Senior Minister said that being an agricultural province, Punjab should be self-sufficient in the field of food which every Pakistani has a long-standing desire. He said that we should not move like hoarding and grand selling but be positive in business activities which should be promoted so that the common man has access to quality food in abundance. Senior Minister for Food Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan assured to address the issues raised by Rahim Yar Khan Chamber of Commerce especially the problems of flour mills and assured the President of Flour Mills Association Punjab Abdul Rauf Mukhtar that the Government should ensure full cooperation with flour mills. He said that flour mills should not be unnecessarily harassed by the district administration or other agencies. Abdul Aleem Khan said that making flour and supplying it to the market was the primary responsibility of flour mills for which they would be provided all possible assistance.
