72% WHEAT PROCUREMENT TARGET COMPLETED, 92% BARDANA DISTRIBUTED - ABDUL ALEEM KHAN


 INTEGRATED WHEAT PROCUREMENT POLICY IMPLEMENTED: ABDUL ALEEM KHAN


Senior & Food Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan has said that a coordinated policy has been implemented for the procurement of wheat in Punjab which has tried to bring direct benefits to the common farmer. He added that 72 per cent target of procurement of wheat has been achieved in Punjab while distribution of 92 per cent “bar dana” to farmers has also been completed so far.
 Replying to questions of the Food Department in the current session of the Punjab Assembly, Senior Punjab Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said that this year the Punjab Government has ensured uninterrupted supply of “bar dana” to the farmers all over the province. He told that wheat procurement drive has been inspected on the spot by him and no complaint has been found on ground. Senior & Food Minister said that Punjab has set a target of purchasing 4.5 million metric tonnes of wheat which will be completed ahead of time In Sha Allah. He said that the Punjab Government would also meet the wheat requirement of KPK besides itself while an additional purchase of 5 lac metric tonnes is also under consideration for an extraordinary situation. Senior & Food Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said that illegal transportation of wheat in Punjab has been strictly curtailed and large scale operations have been carried out against the hoarders without any discrimination. Abdul Aleem Khan assured that In Sha Allah the people of Punjab will not be facing the shortage of food grains. He claimed that the Food Department is fulfilling its responsibilities and all necessary steps are being taken to meet the requirements. Senior & Food Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan also answered various supplementary questions of the Food Department and informed the session about the steps taken by the Food Department for the betterment of this sector.
