High level meeting to review wheat & sugar in Punjab

Flour being provided at control rate: Abdul Aleem Khan

An important emergency meeting to control flour and sugar prices in the province was held under the chairmanship of Senior Provincial Minister for Food Abdul Aleem Khan and Chief Secretary Punjab Jawad Rafique Malik here at the Chief Secretary's Office on Sunday. The meeting reviewed various action plans to keep the prices of flour and sugar in moderation and decided to send recommendations to Federal Government in this regard.
    Addressing the meeting, the Senior Provincial Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said that the sale of 20 kg bags of flour at Rs. 860 was being ensured across the province and teams of Food Department and district administration were active in the field. This is also being confirmed in the report of the Bureau of Statistics, Abdul Aleem Khan added. He said that different prices of flour in other provinces create problems and the provinces have to take steps to keep the same price of flour. Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said that in Punjab all possible steps are being taken to provide relief to the common man and daily monitoring is being taken out at district level.
    In the meeting Chief Secretary told that the prices of flour and sugar would be strictly enforced as per the directions of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Punjab.
    The meeting was attended by Administrative Secretaries of Food and Industry, Director Food Punjab and concerned officers.
