WHEAT PROCUREMENT, 51% BARDANA, 25% TARGET ACHIEVED

Wheat procurement drive is in full swing in various districts of Punjab where distribution of 51% of bardana has been undertaken while the target of 25% procurement of wheat has been achieved so far. Talking in this regard, Senior & Food Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan told that the Punjab Government is giving the price of wheat to the farmers at the rate of Rs. 1800 per mond and the Food Department has so far procured 800,000 metric tonnes of wheat at this rate. He added that wheat production in Punjab has improved this year while the procurement of wheat in Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions is on the rise. Abdul Aleem Khan expressed the expectation that In Sha Allah Punjab Food Department will achieve target of wheat procurement well in time. He said that wheat would be provided to the flour mills as per the requirement of the citizens. Senior & Food Minister said that reports were being received on daily basis regarding the procurement of wheat so that updates could be obtained from every district of the province.
Senior & Punjab Food Minister Abdul Aleem Khan further said that better wheat production is expected in Punjab this year but recent rains could cause some problems. Abdul Aleem Khan said that according to the instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, for the first time in history, farmers are being given the best price of wheat, especially in Punjab. He pointed out that this step would bring significant improvement in rural areas and farmers will be prosperous. Senior & Food Minister told that at wheat procurement centers joint efforts are being made and farmers are being provided maximum facilities there.
